Kaoru Kawano 1916-1965　Born in Otaru,Hokkaido

1923: After entering elementary school, meets Narita Gyokusen and Saito Kiyoshi and receives instruction in drawing.
1928: Awarded the Excellence Prize (drawing) at the Japan National Exhibition for Elementary School Students.
1930: At the age of 14, his oil painting is selected for the 6th Hokkaido Exhibition. Narita introduces him to Shiko Munakata.
1934 Graduated from Otaru Junior High School and moved to Tokyo to become a painter.
1936: Joins the publishing house Nobara-sha through the introduction of Kiyoshi Saito, and produces the "Dancing Figure" series.
1939: Enlisted in the 26th Regiment.
1944: First time accepted into the 13th Exhibition of the Japan Print Association, "Eclipse" and "Black Sun" (woodblock prints).
1954 He was nominated as a member of the Japan Print Association. Moved to Tokyo to become a printmaker.
1955 Awarded the Kokuga Scholarship Prize at the 29th Exhibition of the Japan Print Association.
1956 Exhibited at the "Exhibition of Contemporary Japanese Prints" with recommendation.
1958: Exhibited "Girl", "Wind", and "Twin Birds", and became a member of the Kokuga-kai Print Division.
1961: Exhibited "Flying Sky" at the 35th Kokuga-kai Exhibition and participated in an overseas group exhibition organized by Yoseido.
1962: Held the Kiyoshi Saito/Kaoru Kono Exhibition in Minneapolis, Minnesota (May 10-June 30).
1964: Exhibited "Camellia (H)" (woodblock print) and "Hair" (woodblock print).
1965: He passed away at the age of 49.

河野薫　1916~1965
1916年８月12日小樽市生まれ。
1923年　小学校入学後、成田玉泉に出会い絵の指導を受けていた斎藤清と知り合う。
1928年　全国小学生展覧会にて図画優等賞受賞。
1930年 14歳で第６回道展で油彩入選。棟方志功を成田から紹介される。
1934年　小樽中学校卒業後、美術家を志して上京
1936年　斎藤清の紹介で出版社野ばら社に入社「踊りDANCING FIGURE」連作。
1939年 応召、歩兵第26連隊入隊。
1944年 第13回日本版画協会展初入選「日蝕」「黒い太陽」（木版）
1954年 日本版画協会会員に推薦される。版画家を志して上京。
1955年 第29回国画会展国画奨学賞受賞
1956年 現代日本版画展推薦出品
1958年「少女」「風」「双鳥」発表、国画会版画部会友になる。
1961年 第35回国画会展『飛天」発表、養清堂企画で海外でグループ展に出品。
1962年 ミネアポリス、ミネソタにて斎藤清と河野薫展５月10日～６月30日開催
1964年「椿（H）」（木版）「髪」（木版）発表
1965年 秋、発病12月7日永眠。49歳。
